Matt has provided in-home, school, and center-based ABA services for seven years to children and adults aged 2-32 and a broad range of neurodiverse presentations. As a BCBA, he has filled roles including program supervisor, consultant, and clinical director. Matt grew up in Florida and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. During his undergraduate studies, a BCBA introduced Matt to applied behavior analysis where he saw the profound and positive impact it had on the well-being of people receiving services. Matt chose to dedicate his life to improving the quality of well-being for as many people as he could reach through behavior analytic intervention. Matt received his Master of Arts degree in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis from Arizona State University and has now called Northwest Chicagoland his home for six years. He continues his commitment to and support of the families he works with.
Throughout my career, I have learned that all behavior makes sense to the individual in the moment and that there is no such thing as "good" and "bad" behavior; only behavior that works. If we approach people with the intent to understand them before attempting to judge or help them, we will produce meaningful outcomes and ensure improvement in their overall well-being. The Adaptive Steps mission is to use evidence-based practice derived from a growing body of research to tailor treatment and meet each individual’s specific needs.
Adaptive Steps is committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive support to families and clients, aiming to teach children socially meaningful behaviors and how to thrive in various environments, while also empowering caregivers to continue support independently. Our process begins with a telehealth consultation with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to determine suitability for services, followed by a detailed caregiver interview and an in person skills assessment with your child. Based on the assessment, a clinical team led by a BCBA formulates and supervises a tailored treatment plan, with ongoing 1:1 ABA therapy implemented by a Behavior Technician (BT) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), as well as regular parent coaching sessions to ensure a holistic approach. Recognizing that the prognosis of Autism is lifelong, Adaptive Steps focuses on meeting each learner's unique needs, promoting success, and gradually reducing support as progress stabilizes, with a commitment to support families throughout their journey. Adaptive Steps looks forward to serving you along your journey one step at a time!
