Bio

Brandi Dufek is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She has been working in the field since 2011 and obtained her board certification in 2019. From a young age, she has always had an intense passion to help others learn. Her professional journey began with a career in Speech-Language Pathology, where she discovered a special interest in functional communication skills, which eventually blossomed into a career in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She takes pride in providing compassionate, high quality, and trauma informed ABA services with a focus on collaboration. She has worked in a variety of clinics, home-based, school and community settings in Arizona, Texas, and Utah. She has experience working with individuals of all abilities and ages. In her free time, Brandi enjoys spending time with her family outdoors and can be found on the slopes snowboarding or on a quiet stream with a fly rod in hand.

My approach to therapy

Brandi is a firm believer that parents and caretakers are the experts on their child and focuses on developing positive relationships to understand the complex needs of her clients. Brandi’s practice strives to provide ABA treatment tailored to the individualized needs of the client and incorporates the goals of the parents and caretakers. Treatment is designed to provide high-quality ABA with a focus on using natural environmental teaching with an emphasis on learning new skills through play, social interactions and naturally occurring learning opportunities. ABA therapy should be engaging, enjoyable, and work to teach socially significant skills to the client and their caretakers.

What to expect

Families can expect to work with a Behavior Analyst who is committed to individualized, compassionate and collaborative ABA therapy. When families start services, they can expect a unique and personalized treatment experience with constant support through their treatment journey. From the onset of services families can expect to regularly communicate with an experienced clinician that is committed to meeting the needs of each family and client. Families should also expect to take an active role in therapy and regularly participate in therapy through caregiver training sessions and meetings. We will join forces and actively teach and learn together using evidenced based practice and data driven decision making to direct meaningful treatment goals. The client receiving services will work with a therapist who actively follows their lead using positive pairing strategies in order to build trust and rapport. Through the use of positive pairing strategies, we will make learning fun and teach new skills that are pivotal to developmental milestones and independence. ABA Therapy may also teach replacement behaviors that work towards terminal goals of teaching a client more adaptive, socially significant behaviors such as denial tolerance, self-regulation, and psychological flexibility. Learning history plays a significant role in new skill acquisition and behavior change can take time, families and caretakers will be supported through this process by a dedicated and knowledgeable team.
